INDIGENOUS EDUCATION

INDIGENOUS EDUCATION

by on Jul.04, 2010, under INDIGENOUS EDUCATION

The viewpoints for indigenous peoples’ intellectual survival may be analyzed in general sweeping phrases; it is also apparent that a close analysis of each local and regional case reveals considerable recent revolutions in approaches to inter-cultural education. Over the past generation, states have become increasingly more forbearing of cultural difference. Indigenous peoples have used the change in the political climate to advance rights-based claims for self-determination, political participation, and cultural autonomy.  In a community, there exists an educational method that is intended for indigenous models of education confined within the members of indigenous communities.  The education system is within the horizon of indigenous group of both the students and teachers.  With this, there exists hope for survival not only of individual members of the group but the whole group.  There is inclusion of perspectives, traditions, culture, worldviews and conceptions within curricula, instructional materials and textbooks and course books etc. in the mainstreams of education and schooling.
